Leonel (Leo) Fletes, Jr., is a part of HFM’s Transportation Law Practice Group. He has a wide range of civil litigation experience, having worked on a variety of employment law cases, contract disputes, as well as entity formation.

Prior to joining the HFM team, Mr. Fletes was a part of San Diego Gas & Electric Company’s in-house legal department.  At SDG&E he drafted and prepared pleadings, discovery, pre-trial motions, and settlement agreements. His work also included significant legal research in areas including Real Estate, Commercial Law, Federal and State Regulatory, and Environment law.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Fletes served as a Judicial Extern for Judge Ruth B. Montenegro and Judge Marco D. Nunez of the Imperial County Superior Court, and he also served as a Judicial Extern for Judge Peter C. Lewis, U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California. He earned his law degree from the University of Oregon School of Law, where he was the Director of the Latinx Law Student Association, and was actively involved in the school’s Business Law Clinic. Before law school, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with a minor in Professional Writing from the University of California Santa Barbara. Mr. Fletes is fluent in both English and Spanish.
